Well, kind of, in a very limited, egocentric way.
I’m approaching my 100th post (I’ll start a new page and start using cuts with number 101) and figured it was time to take a serious look at my stats.
They are all over the place. Not surprising considering that this is a relatively new blog and I’m still learning all those bloggy, geeky things.
I have been ‘lucky’ in a way. I’ve managed to hit on subjects on four occassions that got noticed and covered by some of the big boys and girls out there, notably the 300 pound gorilla BoingBoing!, IO9, SFSignal, SliceofSciFi, LiveJournal, TexasBestGrok and several others.
My focus has been (almost entirely) things of a science fictional nature and, of all the news and referrer sites, SFSignal has boosted my numbers the most.
This is actually misleading because who knows where someone went first, where they saw a link first, who posted a link first or where those hits that came from my website and then went to the blog originally came from?
But on the numbers (as I read them), SFSignal has sent more traffic my way than everyone else. By maybe five visitors.
Probably has more to do with the SF nature of the subjects than anything else and I’ll bet that a lot of visitors came here after seeing the mention on BoingBoing, going to SFSignal and seeing it there as well and then finally clicking on the link.
Probably has more to do with the fact that SFSignal has mentioned me three or more times, while BoingBoing has only noticed me once (my headline may not help in that department…)
Its all good. High visibility mentions anywhere are better than being ignored.
And I’m still waiting for Scalzi to notice me.

Happy Fourth of July. I’ll probably have a post on patriotism later on in the day.
RIP Bozo the Clown. My wife sat in is lap ages ago. I hope he enjoyed it.

That’s why we’re here.
Apparently. 🙂
Keep up the good work.
