I just got my membership flyer for Boskone 46 in the mail.
I did my first-ever Boskone last year, the month I moved into the Boston area; despite regular attendance at other northeastern cons during the 70s and 80s, I somehow never seemed to manage getting north of NYC.
Now a convention series that I had heard so much about and lusted to attend has become my mainstay convention.
I’ll be attending ’09s event.
Jo Walton is the headliner this time around; she’s regularly featured on the TOR.com website and I’ve quoted her here a few times (singularity issues); I’m looking forward to hearing her speak.
Stephan Martiniere is the guest artist and Irene Gallo, book packaging maven is the special guest.
Good panels at Boskone; I particularly enjoyed the ‘Military SF’ one from last year. Pretty good trade show and art show also.
Don’t particular care for the hotel – spreads things out too much for my ‘intimate con’ desires – but a hotel is a hotel.
If you’re in the area – think about attending. If you are planning on going already and want to hook up, please let me know.
I’m going to take a laptop and a digital cam with me this year and hopefully do some blog entries from the con. Should be interesting.
